谢绝母校爱戴, 反对家族安排, 走上错误旅程
在1954年12月苏东中学毕业典礼中，作为第一名毕业生，我亲自接受林天祥校长颁发的毕业文凭。之后, 我正和同学们互相道贺时，林校长约我去校长办公室一谈.
林校长告知我, 母校决定请我留校任教。因为我的外祖父张念遗是苏中创始人之一，当时仍是名誉董事，林校长希望我不要拒绝。从我的母亲那一代华人起，苏东中学就是我们家族成员必读的学府。因此，我非常热爱苏东中学。理所当然，我应欣然接受母校的邀请与安排。然而，我当时却以家族公司安排任职为由，谢绝了我心中默默钦佩，领导有功的林天祥校长。
今回首，惭愧得很。实际上，我已在毕业之前，由“左派”同学的安排下，接受了棉兰华侨中学的聘请。苏中名列前茅的学子，违背了自己最喜欢的格言：“Honesty is the best policy”, 以及我至今仍牢记的校训礼义廉耻。
拒绝苏东中学母校的爱戴后，又反对家族公司的安排而任职于华侨中学，是我一生所犯的最严重错误。

Hello, David Huang,
My classmate in Su Tung High School who is now living in Toronto enjoying his retirement life and who is also my collegemate in the National Taiwan University, forwarded to me the link of your web site from which I have ploughed through your autobiography (more or less to a large extent). I am very impressed on your experience and sufferings in 1957-8 whilst studying in the Preparation School for the University Entrance Examination in Peking. What you then had experienced there is totally and completely different than our study life in the National Taiwan University in Taipei in 1961-5 where there had been no political involvement at all. What we had to do was to devote ourselves in the study and we enjoyed a very pleasant university time there for four years.
Both my classmate and I finished our high school study in Su Tung High School in 1958 and graduated from the Mechanical and Chemical Engineering Departments respectively of the National Taiwan University in 1965.
