<p>Space shuttle Atlantis lifted off at 11:29 a.m. EST on July 8, 2011 on the final flight of the shuttle program, STS-135, a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. Atlantis carries a crew of four and the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module containing supplies and spare parts for the space station. The STS-135 astronauts are: Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim. </p>

<p>On Tuesday, July 12, 2011, Expedition 28 Flight Engineers Mike Fossum and Ron Garan completed a six-hour, 31-minute spacewalk at 3:53 p.m. EDT, retrieving a failed pump module for return to Earth, installing two experiments and repairing a new base for the station&#8217;s robotic arm. This is Space Shuttle Era&#8217;s Final Spacewalk.</p>
<p>On July 18, 2011, Space Shuttle Atlantis and International Space Station crew members said their goodbyes and closed hatches between the two spacecraft. Atlantis is undocked at 2:28 a.m. EDT, fired its jets at 4:18 a.m. EDT, separated  from the International Space Station.</p>
<p>Atlantis and the STS-135 crew touched down at NASA&#8217;s Kennedy Space Center in Florida just before dawn on July 21, 2011, wrapping up the final mission of the 30-year space shuttle program.</p>

因燃料管道加热器出现故障而推迟发射后，美国航天飞机奋进号(space shuttle Endeavour)已于2011年5月16日东部时间 8:56 a.m. EDT 从佛罗里达州卡纳维尔角美国国家航空航天局(NASA)肯尼迪太空中心(Kennedy Space Center)成功地发射升空，并飞向国际太空站。预计奋进号将于2011年5月18日(星期三)和国际太空站( International Space Station - ISS)对接。

这是奋进号第25次，也是最后一次太空之旅。奋进号在这次为期16天的任务中，主要是为国际太空站运送去一套“阿尔法磁谱仪”( Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2)和其他设备。精密的“阿尔法磁谱仪”侦测仪器，将用于探索至今未能获知的宇宙形成之奥秘。

<p>Space shuttle Endeavour lifted off from from Launch Pad 39A at NASA&#8217;s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on time at 8:56 a.m. EDT, Monday, May 16, 2011. Endeavour is on its STS-134 mission and final flight to the  International Space Station (ISS) and has been docked with the International Space Station at 6:14 a.m, May 18, 2011. </p>
<p>The crew members for space shuttle Endeavour&#8217;s STS-134 mission are Commander Mark Kelly, Pilot Gregory H. Johnson and Mission Specialists Michael Fincke, Greg Chamitoff, Andrew Feustel and European Space Agency astronaut Roberto Vittori.</p>
<p>During the 16-day mission, Endeavour and its crew will deliver the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) and spare parts including two S-band communications antennas, a high-pressure gas tank and additional spare parts for Dextre. </p>

<p>Space shuttle Endeavour returned to Earth at the end of its final mission, STS-134 on June 1, 2011. Endeavour launched on its first mission on May 7, 1992 and spent a total of 299 days in space and traveled more than 122.8<br />
million miles during its 25 flights.</p>

1961年，我在中国北京石油学院石油炼制系学习，今生有幸见证了当时北京为人类在太空探索与航行所取得此重大成就而欢呼兴奋的情景。

<p>Space shuttle Discovery&#8217;s liftoff from Launch Pad 39A at NASA&#8217;s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on a picturesque, warm, late February afternoon was witnessed by news media representatives near the countdown clock at the Press Site. Launch of the STS-133 mission was at 4:53 p.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 &#8211; her final ride to the International Space Station.</p>
<p>Discovery and its six-member crew are on a mission to deliver the Express Logistics Carrier-4, and Robonaut 2, the first robot of its kind to fly into and work in space.</p>
<p>Discovery is making its 39th mission and is scheduled to be retired following STS-133. This is the 133rd Space Shuttle Program mission and the 35th shuttle voyage to the International Space Station. STS-133 crew members include transporting Commander Steve Lindsey, Pilot Eric Boe, and Mission Specialists Nicole Stott, Michael Barratt, Alvin Drew, and Steve Bowen.</p>

Space shuttle Atlantis' main gear touched down on Runway 33 at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 8:48 a.m. EDT May 26, 2010 completing a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. On board were Commander Ken Ham, pilot Tony Antonelli, Garrett Reisman, Michael Good, Steve Bowen and Piers Sellers. The six-member STS-132
crew carried the Russian-built Mini Research Module-1 to the International Space Station.

This STS-132 was the final scheduled flight for Atlantis, which has logged more than 120 million miles during its 25 years of service.

The STS-132 crew members have used the station’s robotic arm to move the Integrated Cargo Carrier from the payload bay to the station’s mobile transporter. This will enable the carrier and its attached hardware to be prepositioned for use throughout the mission.

Crew members also transferes the spacesuits and spacewalk equipment over to the station’s Quest airlock and begin setting up for the first spacewalk.

Mission Specialists Garrett Reisman and Stephen Bowen completed the first spacewalk of the STS-132 mission at 3:19 p.m. EDT. They installed a second station space-to-ground Ku-band antenna and a spare parts platform on Dextre, the two-armed robotic Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator. The spacewalk lasted 7 hours, 25 minutes.

May 21, 2010  ─ The replacement of batteries on the P6 truss segment of the International Space Station was completed on the third and final spacewalk of STS-132 by Mission Specialists Mike Good and Garrett Reisman to finish the task begun on the missions previous EVA. The 132 crews eighth day of spaceflight was also highlighted by Good and Reismans relocation of a grapple fixture from Atlantis payload bay to the station for use as a spare.

Space shuttle  Atlantis astronauts transferred equipment and supplies between the shuttle and the International Space Station on Saturday May 22, 2010  in preparation for their departure.  

After the crew of STS-132 said its goodbyes to the International Space Station and the six Expedition 23 crew members on Sunday May 23, 2010, space shuttle Atlantis undocked from and flew around the ISS, then headed for home. Commander Ken Ham, Pilot Tony Antonelli and Mission Specialists Garrett Reisman, Steve Bowen, Mike Good and Piers Sellers are scheduled to conclude their 12-day mission with a landing Wednesday May 26, 2010 at NASAs Kennedy Space Center.

<p>The STS-132 crew members have used the station’s robotic arm to move the Integrated Cargo Carrier from the payload bay to the station’s mobile transporter. This will enable the carrier and its attached hardware to be prepositioned for use throughout the mission.</p>
<p>Crew members also transferes the spacesuits and spacewalk equipment over to the station’s Quest airlock and begin setting up for the first spacewalk.</p>

They installed a second station space-to-ground Ku-band antenna and a spare parts platform on Dextre, the two-armed robotic Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator. The spacewalk lasted 7 hours, 25 minutes.</p>

Space shuttle Atlantis lifted off from Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the 12-day STS-132 mission to the International Space Station at 2:20 p.m. EDT on May 14, 2010. The third of five shuttle missions planned for 2010, this was the last planned launch for Atlantis. The Russian-built Mini Research Module-1, also known as Rassvet, or "dawn," will be delivered and it will provide additional storage space and a new docking port for Russian Soyuz and Progress spacecraft. The laboratory will be attached to the bottom port of the station's Zarya module. The mission's three spacewalks will focus on storing spare components outside the station, including six batteries, a communications antenna and parts for the Canadian Dextre robotic arm.

The six-member crew of Atlantis STS-132 includes Commander Ken Ham, Pilot Tony Antonelli and Mission Specialists Garrett Reisman, Steve Bowen, Mike Good and Piers Sellers.

April 21, 2010  ─ This compilation of video shows some of the first imagery and data sent back from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). Most of the imagery comes from SDO's AIA instrument, and different colors are used to represent different temperatures, a common technique for observing solar features. SDO sees the entire disk of the Sun in extremely high spacial and temporal resolution and this allows scientists to zoom in on notable events like flares, waves, and sunspots.

Launched on Feb. 11, 2010, SDO is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun. During its five-year mission, it will examine the sun's magnetic field and also provide a better understanding of the role the sun plays in Earth's atmospheric chemistry and climate. Since launch, engineers have been conducting testing and verification of the spacecrafts components. Now fully operational, SDO will provide images with clarity 10 times better than high-definition television and will return more comprehensive science data faster than any other solar observing spacecraft.

<p>April 21, 2010  ─ This compilation of video shows some of the first imagery and data sent back from NASA&#8217;s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). Most of the imagery comes from SDO&#8217;s AIA instrument, and different colors are used to represent different temperatures, a common technique for observing solar features. SDO sees the entire disk of the Sun in extremely high spacial and temporal resolution and this allows scientists to zoom in on notable events like flares, waves, and sunspots.<br />

<p>Launched on Feb. 11, 2010, SDO is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun. During its five-year mission, it will examine the sun&#8217;s magnetic field and also provide a better understanding of the role the sun plays in Earth&#8217;s atmospheric chemistry and climate. Since launch, engineers have been conducting testing and verification of the spacecrafts components. Now fully operational, SDO will provide images with clarity 10 times better than high-definition television and will return more comprehensive science data faster than any other solar observing spacecraft.</p>

NASA celebrated Hubble Space Telescope 20 years of discovery on April 23, 2010. In the two decades since space shuttle Discovery roared into orbit in 1990 with NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, astronauts extended its abilities far beyond what was thought possible for longer than many thought realistic.

In 2009 space shuttle Atlantis astronauts conducted a servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope in order to provide an extended operational lifespan for Hubble until at least 2014.

Space shuttle Discovery STS-131 ended a two-week journey of more than 6.2 million miles and landed at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 20, 2010 (Tuesday). Returning to Earth aboard the orbiter were STS-131 seven astronauts - Commander Alan Poindexter, Pilot Jim Dutton, and Mission Specialists Stephanie Wilson, Rick Mastracchio, Clay Anderson, Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger and Naoko Yamazaki of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The STS-131 mission to the International Space Station included three spacewalks, the installation of equipment outside the ISS, and the transfer of thousands of pounds of cargo and supplies from the orbiter's payload bay to various locations on the station.
