The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

自由的国度，创新的源泉
自从美国建国以来，这仅有233年历史的国家，雄伟的自由女神灯塔般的巨臂向天下展现希望，吸引全世界无数优秀人才纷纷移民到此自由的国度。在美国宪法保证的平等机会之下，他们能够充分发挥自己的聪明才智，在各个科学技术和文化领域不断寻求变革，发明创造，从而为美利坚合众国以及全人类谱写了无数壮丽辉煌的历史新篇章。
美国2009年共得11个诺贝尔奖
美国优越的自由民主制度是创新的源泉。诺贝尔奖委员会宣布2009年诺贝尔奖得奖人的消息再一次证明了这一事实。
2009年六项诺贝尔奖13个得奖人中，11个是美国公民(其中Charles K. Kao，Willard S. Boyle和Elizabeth H. Blackburn还分别拥有英国国籍，加拿大国籍，澳大利亚国籍)。他们分别在物理学，化学，生理学或医学，和平，以及经济学五个领域作出重大贡献。
